Had to settle for a bag of mixed greens and regular red radishes, but this warm, satisfying salad was a hit for dinner after a chilly spring day. The miso makes it. I have a better chance of growing my own pea shoots than ever finding them at my local grocery...

Moved to comment for the first time by this a gem of a recipe! So easy, sooo tasty. Comforting, creamy beans, peppery arugula and radish, zingy citrus - delish! Felt like a comfort food, yet nutritious and budget-friendly. Hurrah.

Wow! I'm so glad I made this. It's a perfect spring dish. I made it (almost) exactly as written; I used chickpeas, however, as the only white beans I had were Great Northern, and I believed they'd be too mushy for this recipe. The chickpeas were diving. We'll definitely make this again (and again).

I'm vegetarian, and I know when a dish is especially good when my meat eating parents like my plant based meals. This has joined my pantheon of veggie main meals for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. I used red radishes and used their greens. I also used yellow miso. Substitutions worked perfectly, and this dish was incredibly quick and easy as well.

BondiCooking

Made this in Paris, where I couldn't find miso. Subbed anchovies in instead, melted in the butter. Totally different flavour I imagine, but still delicious -- a new quick and easy weeknight dish.

Vmaria

Everyone loves this - sometimes I serve it over buckwheat soba noodles- kids gobble it up.

SO good. Full of umami! Such a lot of result for such a small amount of effort.

Patti

I've made this twice and could eat it every week. So yummy. And a great way to get more beans into the diet. I like it with arugula.

This is a spectacular dish, whether you're a vegetarian or not. We are not, but we love varying our diet and surprising our guests with new flavors. It is remarkable to find such a showstopper that takes so little time! I have served this to both vegetarian and omniverous guests and all were wowed. Just delightful!

Travis

It's amazing how an easy 10-minute recipe can produce such a complex flavor and satisfying meal.... I need more like this! I threw in an avocado which added to the creaminess. Delicious.

Ann

Can use chickpeas.

Flo

Made this with arugula & loved it! Great, easy weeknight dinner.

Lauren

Quick & easy. Prepped everything in advance. Cooking time fast. Next time use more greens - arugula, pea shoots and sprouts. More generous with lemon. Pretty presentation on platter. Overall, a crowd pleaser and very filling. Might try with poached eggs next time.

Ellen

This recipe is DIVINE!!! Lots of umami and beautifully balanced.

Laura

As hyped. Included fresh sliced turnips and greens. Used radish greens and added pea shoot and baby arugula greens. Lemon is a must. So delicious and satisfying. Would be delicious served on toast.

Laura Nak

Sublime. And so simple. I used watercress and arrugula with red radishes. My only suggestion is to increase the amount of greens.

lisa

Made this as written using royal coronas. Loved, loved the flavor of the beans and miso, mellow my mind satisfying. Next time will sub out the greens and radish for some sautéed veggies (maybe carrots, shiitake and a handful of fresh spinach, sautéed in the butter before adding the garlic). The lemon juice was a bright note but will try a drizzle of mirin next time.

Margot

Served this as a hot dish, and made it vegan by using a plant-based butter. With some purple, black, and white radish, and spinach leaves, it was pretty too. Added the radish and spinach near the end, and cooked it until the spinach was just wilted and the radish were still al dente. Crowd favourite.

This recipe is perfect and delicious exactly as it's given. So easy to make to.

Lucy

I make this all. the. time. It's my go-to pantry meal. So hearty and comforting and the radishes add the right amount of crunch.

Me

Oh so good and EASY!! Loved it

sarina

Didn’t have greens but put this over some warm couscous & added feta cheese. Turned out really bright and loved the salty/peppery/creamy play of flavors

Lily

This was awesome. Garlicky, umami, creamy and tangy. Not many ingredients, plus these are ingredients we often already have in the house. Had it with salmon. This is definitely going in the rotation!

Made almost exactly as written, although halved the amounts as it was lunch just for me. I also browned the butter a little because the smell is so heavenly. Added just a dash of salt to the beans mixture before combining with arugula and lemon juice. Pretty much perfect!

Christina

I was skeptical about this one but just as the other reviews say it is incredibly delicious for the literal 3 minutes of cooking time. Gives me those calm happy belly feelings!

MeBoat

Got too mushy. Add arugula once cooked.

Jessie

Fantastic and so easy. If you can find seriously peppery fresh arugula - my farmers market has some awesomely intense stuff sometimes - I think that strong flavor puts this over the top.

Sonya

Fantastic. I made this recipe for the second time tonight. Both times I added a minced shallot in with the garlic. The first time I used baby kale and arugula, today I used spinach. I only had one can of cannellini beans today, so I subed with one can of hominy. The possibilities are endless with this formula. I love how elevated the flavor is while taking less than 15 minutes to make. Very impressive.
