It wouldn’t be summer without a cold, refreshing glass of lemon ginger iced tea. This recipe is made with fresh lemon and ginger for the most amazing flavor. Perfect for sipping on a hot day.

Are you a sweet tea drinker or an unsweet tea lover? Being from the north, I’m for unsweet tea 99% of the time, but I do like a refreshing, lemon sweet tea every now and then.

The very first time I had “sweet tea” in North Carolina, I could hardly choke down the sweetness. There are some that make their tea more like a combination of lemonade and tea, some prefer it sweet and syrup-like, and with or without lemon.

I was raised on a strict unsweetened, no lemon, plain iced tea, so you can imagine my surprise when I drank down that Arnold Palmer-like glass of “sweet tea” in North Carolina. However, I’ve come to really enjoy the lemon and just a bit of sweet.

About Lemon Ginger Iced Tea Recipe:

  • Flavor: This ginger cold tea recipe includes fresh lemon and ginger for a wonderfully fresh, delicious glass of tea. The ginger brings a fresh, thirst-quenching flavor that pairs beautifully with the zesty lemon. When you add a bit of sugar, it’s a match made in drink-heaven!
  • Method: You’ll need to boil water for the base of this iced tea recipe. You can do that in the microwave, in a tea kettle or on the stovetop. I usually make mine in the microwave.

Is iced ginger tea good for you?

Yes! Lemon has nutritional value to it itself, but ginger is great for digestive health and upset stomachs. Lemon ginger tea is high in vitamin C and can even reduce pain associated with inflammation and headaches. (source)

And if you use decaffeinated tea, this is a calming tea to drink before bedtime.

How to Make Ginger Lemon Tea

  • In a microwave safe bowl or glass measuring cup, microwave the 3 cups water and tea bags on high for about 3-4 minutes or until the water is nearly boiling.
  • Add the sliced lemons and ginger. Let steep until the water returns to room temperature.
