For fast and simple editing, we've added Clipchamp to the Microsoft family. You can find it in Microsoft Store, or you can find the install button withinPhotos by selecting Settings , then selecting Get Clipchamp. Make sure you have the latest version of the Photos app.

Notes:To use the Legacy Video Editor instead,you can download and install Microsoft Photos Legacy from Microsoft Store.

  1. Select Start>Settings .

  2. Scroll down and selectAbout.

  3. Find Photos Legacy and select Get Photos Legacy.

Clipchamp

The Clipchamp video editor empowers anyone to make amazing videos.

With Clipchamp’s user-friendly interface, templates, and intelligent shortcuts, you can edit your video and add special effects, text, transitions, music and more with ease. You can also record your screen and webcam securely, and enjoy advanced features like green screen editing, overlays, and AI voiceovers.

To access Clipchamp:

Clipchamp is the built-in video editor for Windows 11. It is also available in Windows 10 from Microsoft Store. There are many other ways to access Clipchamp, including:

  • Searchthe Windows Start menu

  • Searchthe M365 menu

  • Right-click to edit with Clipchamp in File Explorer

  • Right-click to edit with Clipchamp in Photos

  • Right-click to edit with Clipchamp in Windows Media Player

  • Edit a video template in Designer

  • Start with a video template in Microsoft Create

A browser-based version can also be accessed by typing https://app.clipchamp.com/ in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.

To create a new video that you can edit from start to finish:

  1. Sign in to Clipchamp or create an account for free. On the editor homepage, selectCreate a new video to begin editing.

  2. Upload your videos, images, and audio files to Your media tab or select free stock assets. Drag and drop media files onto the timeline.

  3. Rearrange your media on the timeline and edit your video with accessible features like trim, crop, split, and rotate.

  4. Add special effects like text and captions, overlays, filters, background music, and more. Try our more advanced features like AI voiceovers, green screen, and picture-in-picture effects.

  5. Preview your video in full-screen mode, make any final adjustments, then export your video in 1080p HD video resolution.

Get familiar with Clipchamp’s editing functions:

Clipchamp’s beginner-friendly interface helps you quickly locate all the professional editing functions, including the stage, timeline, sidebars and the floating sidebar.

  • Use efficient editing functions like trim, split, delete, duplicate, undo, and redo in the timeline.

  • Crop, fill, rotate, flip, and add picture-in-picture effects on videos with the floating toolbar visible on the stage.

  • Speed up or slow down your video or audio file with the speed controller in the right sidebar.

  • Resize videos to suit any social media platform with popular aspect ratio presets near the right sidebar.

  • Enhance the color balance and appearance of your video clip using pro filters like green screen, blend mode, disco, VHS, or black and white removal—with more options available in the right sidebar.

  • Add traditional or quirky transitions between clips—and exclusive overlays on top of your video—in the left sidebar.

  • Search through over 1 million royalty-free videos to find the right aesthetic and genre in the left sidebar.

  • Select a background music track or fun sound effects from our stock audio library in the left sidebar.

  • Choose from a wide range of unique animated text and captions and customize them with various fonts, colors, and positions.

To record videos:

  1. Sign in to Clipchamp or create an account. Inside the editor, select the Screen and camera recording tab.

  2. Select the screen and camera recording, camera recording, or screen recording feature.

  3. SelectRecordto select a tab, window, entire screen, or webcam. Retake your video as many times as you need.

  4. Adjust your recording with editing features like trim, crop, flip, and rotate. Personalize your video with our picture-in-picture effect, filters, stickers, text, and more.

  5. Save your recording in 1080p high-definition video resolution.

To use a template:

  1. Sign in to Clipchamp or create an account for free. Inside the editor, select a template from the categories in the template library.

  2. Personalize the template with your own videos and imagesor search the stock library for options.

  3. Customize your text with a variety of fonts, sizes, colors, and placement. Plus, edit background music with royalty-free stock audio and adjust the volume to suit your needs.

  4. Add your personalized brand kit to your video using your unique color palette, font, and logos. You can even turn your logo into a watermark for your video.

  5. Export your video in 1080p video resolution and share it directly to social media platforms, including YouTube and TikTok.

To generate voiceovers using text-to-speech:

  1. Sign in to Clipchamp or create an account for free. Inside the editor, select the text to speech tab in the sidebar.

  2. Type in your phrase or sentence, and pick the language, voice, style, and pitch you would like to use. Adjust the speed of your voiceover to be faster or slower.

  3. Add your voiceover to the editing timeline to finish.

To edit with keyboard shortcuts:

  1. Find a list of keyboard shortcuts by selectingthe Clipchamp logo at the top left corner of the editor and selectingKeyboard shortcuts.

  2. Browse through the helpful list of all shortcuts ranging from display, navigation, selecting items, moving items, and trimming items.

  3. Use shortcuts to suit any accessibility needs or save time while editing videos.

Enjoy special time-saving features:

  • Use keywords to search the stock library, which has over 1 million stock videos, audio, and images.

  • Replace existing stockor assets on your timeline by dragging and dropping the media in the exact position of the existing media.

  • Delete gaps created on your timeline by selectingthe trash can icon that appears between media.

  • Group and ungroup assets on your timeline by dragging your cursor over the media, right-clicking, and selecting Group or Ungroup from the dropdown menu.

  • Crop certain areas of your videos, images, and stickers with the freehand crop feature. Adjust the corners inside the stage to change the aspect ratio with your cursor.

To import your media:

There are many options to upload compatible videos, audio, images and GIFs you want to edit in Clipchamp, including:

  • Import from device

  • Import from phone (known as Clipdrop)

  • Import from cloud storage like OneDrive, Dropbox and Google Drive and Google Photos

To access helpful integrations:

Clipchamp offers integrations to make your editing experience seamless. For example, the GIPHY integration allows you to add trending GIFs to your videos from the Graphics tab in the sidebar. Further integrations are listed below.

Import and save videos directly to and from:

  • OneDrive

  • Google Drive

  • Google Photos

  • Dropbox

Integrations to share videos:

  • YouTube

  • Pinterest

  • TikTok

  • LinkedIn

To save a video:

  1. Select the Rename box to name your video above the stage.

  2. Select the Export button to save your video. Select from a range of video resolutions, including 480p, 720p, or 1080p. You can also save any videounder 15 seconds as a GIF.

  3. Download your video to your device and share your video with an embed code or with the Share page link to view the video hosted privately on Clipchamp. You can also share directly to social media platforms like TikTok and YouTube.

Legacy Video Editor app

The Video Editor app has a set of video creation and editing tools, allowing you to includemusic, text, motion, and 3D effects.It's a successor to Movie Maker, with a focus on easy-to-use creative tools that help youtell your story.

To create a new video that you can edit from start to finish:

  1. Type video editor into the Search bar and select Video Editor to open the app—or you can open it from the Start menu.

  2. Select New video project.

  3. Name your video and select OK.

  4. Select Add, then select the location you want to add photos or videos from—you can even use From the web to find content on Bing.

  5. Select the photos or videos you want to use.

  6. Drag photos and videos to your Storyboard.

Afteryou've organized your Storyboard, you can change the look and feel of each photo or video clip.

  1. Select a photo or video in the Storyboard.

  2. Select Durationto change the length of time a photo is displayed, or select multiple photos and then select Durationto change the duration for all the selected photosat once.

  3. Select a button like Trim or Splitfor editing (video clips only), or Text or Motion (photos or video clips).

You can add text to photos and video clips with ease. You can also create a title card from the Storyboard if you'd like to add text to a plain colored background.

Simply select a photo or video, selectText, type a title or phrase, then select a style and layout. You can also time the text to appear exactly when you want within your film. When you've selected all your options, select Done.

Add effects

You canadd special effects to your photos and video clips. Selectany of the following options:

  • Filters—adds a visual treatment to your video clip or photo(for example,making itblack & white)

  • Motion—gives photos more visual interest

  • Duration—adjusts the timing of a video clip

  • Rotate—changes the orientation of a photo or video

  • Remove or show black bars—zooms in and removes the letterboxing effectif your photo or video is a different aspect ratio than your project

Add 3D objects

  1. Select 3D effects, thenselect an effect you want to use, or select 3D libraryfor more options.

  2. Rotate and size the object and add animations. You canadd, move, and size 3D effects. You can also anchor an effect to a point in a video clip and watch the effect move along.

  3. Select Done.

Select Background music to choose from several tracks, and if desired,select Sync your video to the beat, then select Done. Or selectCustom audioat the top of the page to add and time your own music tracks, narration, or sound effects.

Publish your video

When you've completed your project, select Finish video, then select Export to publish your film. You can control video quality if you wish.

Additionally, you can select See more () and thenuseDuplicate project to copy your video. Or you canuse Back up project to share your projector save your progress to be sharedbetween multiple users and devices. You can also let us know how you’re liking Video Editor by using Send feedback.

To open one of your backed-up projects and continue working, you can go back to the Video Editor main page, selectSee more () and thenselectImport backup.
